An example of reaction of a non metal with base

Reaction of base with nonmetal is complex.
EX: Chlorine reacts with calcium hydroxide forms bleaching powder
Cl2 + Ca(OH)2 → CaOCl2 + H2O

When chlorine reacts with potassium hydroxide different products will be formed.
Cl2 + 2 KOH → KCl + KClO + H2O
